After graduating from Queens University Belfast with an Economics Degree Jane joined the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (Housing Executive) in 1980. She had a verity of roles including finance, Housing Management, Grants, Housing Benefit Fraud, Homelessness and finishing in Energy Conservation as the Housing Executive was the Home Energy Conservation Authority for Northern Ireland. While working for the Housing Executive Jane also completed a post graduate qualification with the Chartered Institute of Housing. Throughout her career in the Housing Executive Jane developed a passion for conservation of all our resources from buildings to raw materials. Reduce and Reuse became part of everyday life. On moving to Scotland in 2005 Jane didn’t work until she saw an advert in the local paper for a part-time Energy Champion. She saw an opportunity to once again work in a field that she was passionate about. Jane, a qualified renewable energy advisor (City & Guilds 6281-02), is one of StAndEN's founding staff members having joined the organisation in August 2010. Come November, Jane's efforts were recognised and she was offered the manager position, which she holds to this day.
